Love My Dress - Aillie & Duncan

Mr & Mrs Macdonald - May 2018

We were absolutely thrilled when we found this blog by Love My Dress! It shows one of our couples, Aillie and Duncan's wedding on 12 May 2018 here at The Byre at Inchyra. A relaxed and natural style with a modern and crisp finish.

Into A New Year!

Here we go into another action-packed year at the Byre!  We're closed for January and February as we get the Byre and Estate at Inchyra ready for the year.  Building work is about to start on the new Bridle Room in the Stable Yard and for the next two months we'll be busy cleaning and mending and tidying and updating ready to hit the ground running when the first weddings start at the beginning of March.

Inchyra Blue is the most popular new F&B colour!

We're chuffed to bits that the wonderful Inchyra Blue which was developed by Farrow & Ball for Inchyra and the Byre has been voted the most popular new 2016 colour!  Check out this article in Luxury London.

The one where our daughter tries modelling!

One of the first couples to 'get' Inchyra and booking their wedding with us were Michele and Ross Lamb.  After marrying here in 2014 (their wedding is featured on this website) and producing gorgeous little Isaac last year, Michele decided to launch a new career as a wedding and events photographer.  She's very talented and, under the name of Lamb Loves, is already booked to shoot weddings in the Byre and other venues this year.  The other day Michele visited Inchyra for a wedding inspiration shoot - modelled by none other than our daughter Silvie, trying her hand at it for the first time.  We're biased obviously, but we think she did a pretty good job!  And there's absolutely no doubt that Lamb Loves has got what it takes!

The BBC at the Byre!

This Hogmanay we were absolutely delighted to welcome BBC Alba to the Byre for their annual Hogmanay Ceilidh. The programme was broadcast live around the world right from the Byre! It was a fascinating time for everyone. The first crew arrived on 27th December to set up and by New Year's Eve there were 80 crew on site. The estate was buzzing with the arrival of not only the enormous Outside Broadcast truck, but catering trucks, generator trucks, light and sound trucks.

We were fascinated to watch the Byre being transformed over the days running up the show with loads of props coming in for set design and a myriad of lights going in all over the building - both inside and out. The artists started arriving for rehearsals on 29th December and by the 30th there were full rehearsals underway - including having the Vale of Athol Pipe Band playing on the lawn outside the Byre. Our daughter Ellie was also kept busy as a runner on site, giving her lots of useful work experience for her Film Studies degree!

On New Year's Eve itself the place was a hive of activity and there was a full dress rehearsal at 7.30pm before the guest audience arrived at about 9.30. There were 260 lucky ticket holders who had applied through us and through the BBC to be with us on the night. We were delighted that Katy and Mitch Hunt, who were married at Inchyra in 2014, were lucky enough to get tickets and it was great to welcome them back to the Byre.

With performances from some of Scotland's top singers and musicians it was a truly wonderful night. The atmostphere was magical and the Byre looked stunning. We are so lucky that this beautiful building has brought so many amazing experiences to our home and that we are fortunate enought to meet and get to know so many wonderfully creative and talented people along the way. This night really brought that home to us.

Inchyra hosts the Glencarse Games

Every two years we open up Inchyra Estate for the Glencarse Games.  A fun-packed day out for all ages, the games raise money for Glencarse church and a local charity - this year the committee have chosen the Perth-based mental health charity, Mindscape.

The Games offers something for everyone - it's part village fete, part Highland Games, part festival - with live music, beer tent, delicious burgers and strawberries, lots of things going on in the arena from dog competitions to tug of war, pony rides, tea tents, a baking competition and more.   In 2013 we welcomed over a thousand people through the gates and this year we're hoping for even more!

The Games are on Sunday 23rd August and it goes without saying that everyone is welcome.  It's also a good chance to have a peak at the Byre!

Our heartfelt thanks to so many ....

Today sees the launch of this beautiful new website. We would like to thank all the wonderful people who have worked tirelessly to make it the beautiful thing that it is. Firstly, to the amazing Gail Turpin - we are SO happy we found you. You understood from the very first day not only the enormity of what we needed the website to show, but also how we wanted to show it. Gail's team are the BEST - thank you to Astrid, who has worried at the thing like a terrier with a rat working out how best to make the site do what it needs to do and she has sorted through and chosen photographs from the more than 2,500 that we gave her (yes, really!) and to Jai, the best techie ever. These three people are just fantastic to work with and super super professional.  It has been a joy.

I would also like to thank Liz Holt for her amazing work making our shoddy words sound more professional - I can write a blog and I know what I want to say on a website but my goodness she's better at being me than I am!

And then, last but so not least, we would like to thank the beautiful and generous couples and their photographers from last year's weddings who have given us unfettered access to some truly incredible images. The marriage of Inchyra and all of you is truly something 'made in heaven' and we are so pleased that you chose us and that you are now part of our life at Inchyra.

Hope you like it!

xx Caroline
