The Byre – flexible spaces set in 150 acres of the Inchyra estate

The Byre at Inchyra

The Byre is the heart of every wedding at Inchyra. The heart-warming rustic atmosphere belies the fact that this barn wedding venue is hi-tech and fully equipped, giving you everything you need for an unforgettable celebration. The beauty’s in the detail… right down to the Farrow & Ball paintwork emphasising the original 1877 character. You are free to use the Byre as a blank canvas and design your wedding just as you wish – see what’s included in your Wedding Hire Charge and add to this.

The Upper and Lower Byre together can accommodate up to 180 guests for dining, although the layout is so flexible that smaller weddings feel just as perfect in the space. It comprises the Upper and Lower Byre, the Stable Room and our funky-posh loos! There’s also the Tree Room with an IT room to one side. Behind the scenes, there’s a fully equipped kitchen for your caterers. The rear corridor makes the perfect waiting area for bands and any other entertainment.

The upper byre

There’s space for up to 180 people to dine here or you can decide to use it partly as an alternative dance floor. We’ll tell you about the many layout options for tables and the bar once you contact us and arrange a visit.

Original features abound: all around you are the original Byre walls, made with local sandstone, flint and granite, and above you timbered roofs. Resting on the walls outside are the original barn doors which can swing closed at night to create atmosphere, together with blackout blinds over the skylight windows in the roof. The beautifully quiet sprung floors are made with maple wood, reclaimed from renovations at Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow.

The LOWER  byre

Just a couple of steps from the Upper Byre you reach the sunken Lower Byre - the perfect space for live music and dancing. With such a wide open feel across the Upper and Lower Byre, split on two levels, you can plan your space and time to best effect.

We have made a feature of the beautiful old cattle troughs, creating a funky sense of luxury. Fill them with water and romantic floating candles… or let them overflow with gorgeous plants and flowers. There’s even an antique rusty iron water pump! The flexible staging space is great for speeches and can accommodate even the largest band.

The STABLE ROOM

Just off the main hall in the Byre, the Stable Room is the perfect place for your wedding ceremony. The wooden beams help create a romantic chapel atmosphere. It seats up to 106 people on benches handmade with wood reclaimed from the original Byre roof. You can also use the Stable Room as a separate bar, dining room, a place to receive your evening guests or even as a children’s play area. It’s up to you.

THE TREE ROOM AND IT ROOM

This stunning entrance hall and cloakroom is dominated by a giant tree sculpture of woven willow, created by Trevor Leat who also made the Moon Gate. The IT room is accessed here, mostly for the live music or disco – the rest of your sound system and lighting will be programmed in advance so all that’s needed is a press of the button on the remote control.

THE LOOS

Our loos are frankly fabulous. We’ve thought of everything - even a zoned sound system so you can play separate music in here. There’s cosy underfloor heating... gorgeous Scottish Fine Soaps… recycled wood thunderbox seats and stable doors with handmade iron door handles… and original Country Life photographic plates on the walls, found on the Estate.

POWER SHOWER FOR CAMPERS

Going glamping? Your guests can use the power shower and posh loos in the Byre.

PARKING

In the field beside the Byre, lit up with fairy lights, there’s space for up to 200 cars and we welcome coaches up to 53 seaters.
